The story of America is the story of the struggle to expand human freedom.
Camden Thomason
Program Assistant
Camden Thomason helps turn the Shockoe Institute’s mission into meaningful experiences for visitors, educators, and community partners. As Program Assistant, she supports public programming, educational engagement, and day-to-day coordination, helping connect the Institute’s exploration of American history with opportunities for civic learning and participation.
Her work spans event logistics, partner communications, visitor engagement, and collaboration on the Institute’s public-facing content. Working closely with leadership and external partners, Camden helps move programs from planning to execution while maintaining attention to accuracy, thoughtful communication, and the visitor experience.
Raised in Richmond, Camden brings a personal investment in the city’s future and a longstanding curiosity about how decisions made in the past continue to shape life today. She studied leadership at the University of Richmond, where the course Reimagining Richmond introduced her to the Shockoe Institute. Today, she helps create opportunities for people to engage with history, consider their role in civic life, and imagine a more connected future.
